Healthy Turkey Bacon Cheeseburger in Paradise
A delicious twist on the classic burger, featuring lean and flavorful turkey, crispy bacon, and gooey melted cheese sandwiched between soft buns.
Equipment
- 1 Skillet or grill pan
- 1 Spatula
- 1 Toaster or grill for buns
Ingredients
- 1 lb Lean ground turkey
- 4 Slices turkey bacon
- 2 Whole wheat burger buns
- 2 Slices reduced-fat cheese
- 1 Tomato, sliced
- 1/2 Red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 Romaine Heart leaves
- 1 Tbs Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Begin by preheating your skillet or grill pan over medium heat.
- Cook the turkey bacon until crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Set aside on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
- While the bacon is cooking, divide the ground turkey into equal portions and shape them into burger patties. Seasoned each patty with salt and pepper to taste.
- Place the burger patties onto the preheated skillet or grill pan. Cook for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until cooked through and no longer pink in the center
- While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns either in a toaster or on a grill.
- Once the burgers are cooked, top each patty with a slice of cheese and allow it to melt slightly.
- To assemble the burgers, spread Dijon mustard on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with romaine leaves, tomato slices, red onion, turkey bacon, and finally, the turkey melted cheese burger patty.
